Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, or ‘LSD’ is a member of the pharmacological group known as “classical hallucinogens” or “psychedelics.” These compounds all have a chemical structure similar enough to the neurotransmitter serotonin that they can bind with serotonin (5HT) receptors in the brain, which causes their consciousness-altering effects.
